The enemies of Shanghai summer

El verano todavía no ha comenzado oficialmente, pero en Shanghai llevamos más de una semana superando los 30 grados de máxima con días en los que la humedad no baja del 80 por ciento. Parezco el hombre del tiempo... ¡jajajaja! Si estamos así en mayo, julio y agosto ya los presupongo como un infierno. 

La misión para que la estancia al aire libre no te obligue a sentirte como una merluza en papillote es dar con las prendas adecuadas en las que el tejido influye en un 90 por ciento. El año pasado ya os hablé de la importancia del algodón y del lino. Mantengo la misma postura, lo que me convierte en una loca cada vez que voy de compras y le doy la vuelta a la prenda para asegurarme de que la composición indica 100% algodón o lino. Creedme, no es tan fácil encontrarlo. 

Cuando ya has dado con el tejido que buscabas, el siguiente paso es escoger una prenda que no se pegue demasiado a la piel. Todo lo skinny y apretado es mejor dejarlo para climas de otras latitudes y estaciones de otros hemisferios. Pero estamos de enhorabuena y parece que la suerte ha llegado a nuestros armarios esta temporada. La tendencia oversize es uno de los hits y los monos amplios y los pantalones palazzo colaboran con la causa. Si buscamos una camisa o camiseta, no es demasiado complicado si nos decantamos por patrones clásicos. Siempre llevo dos tallas del mismo modelo al probador y así poder comprobar si la más grande sienta bien para poder conseguir el mínimo contacto de tela con la piel. Creedme, funciona.

En una de esas excursiones shopping con el objetivo de abastecer el armario para el verano castigador, me encontré con este mono de pantalones palazzo de Zara TRF. No es ni de algodón ni de lino, sino de liocel. Pero esta fibra artificial está dentro del abanico de herramientas para combatir el calor. Ya os lo enseñé en un selfie la semana pasada y aquí os lo traigo de nuevo con las Birks y la cazadora vaquera también (sólo me la puse para la foto). El bolso lo he cambiado por una pieza mucho más pequeña y manejable. El colgante es un regalo de una de mis mejores amigas. Vive en El Cairo y lo adquirió en la tienda de la diseñadora local de joyas Azza Fahmy que realiza creaciones con espíritu cien por cien egipcio.

Sé que a muchos os estaré dando envidia con estas temperaturas tan altas y que probablemente no os hayáis planteado esta necesidad de combatir el calor con prendas ligeras. Pero, imaginaos que tenéis que pasar el verano en Córdoba (España), en Monterrey (México) o en Nueva Delhi... ¿qué se oscurre, a parte de un factor 30 como mínimo de protección solar?

Officially, summer hasn't started yet, but last week in Shanghai maximum temperatures have been over 30 degrees with days in which humidity doesn't get down from 80 per cent. I'm like the weatherman... hahaha! If we have this situation in May, I'm anticipating July and August like hell.

So here is the mission to get your stay outdoors and not feel like a hake en papillote: find the adequate pieces in which the fabric has influence in 90 per cent. Last year I already told you about the importance of cotton and linen. I keep the the same stance which makes me a complete crazy girl any time going shopping, and I happen to turn inside out the garments to ensure that fiber composition says 100% cotton or linen. Believe me, it's not that easy to find.

When you've already found the fabric you were looking for, next step is to choose a garment which does not get too stuck to your skin. Everything name as skinny and tight is better to leave for climates from other latitudes and seasons from other hemispheres. But we have reason to be congratulated and it seems that luck has arrived to our closets this season. Oversize trend is one of the hits, and loose jumpsuits and palazzo trousers cooperate into this cause. If we're looking for a shirt or a tee, it's not very complicated if we happen to go for classic patterns. I always bring two sizes of the same style to the fitting room, so I can test if the big one fits well in order to the minimum contact between fabric and my skin. Believe me, it works.

During one of those excursions for shopping with the aim of furnishing the closet for the coming paining summer, I found out this jumpsuit with palazzo pants by Zara TRF. It's neither cotton nor linen, but lyocell. But this artificial fiber is within the range of tools to battle the heat. I've alrady shown you in a selfie last week and here I bring it again with Birks and denim jacket as well (I only wore it for the photo). I've changed the bag for a smaller and easier to handle piece. Pendant is a gfit from one of my best friends. She lives in Cairo and got it from the store of local jewellery designer, Azza Fahmy, who creates pieces with a 100% Egyptian spirit. 

I know that many of you are feeling envy about these high temperatures and probably you've never considered the necessity of fight heat with light clothes. However, just imagine that you have to spend July and August in Cordoba (Spain), Monterrey (Mexico) or New Delhi... what does it come to your mind, apart from a 30 SPF sunscreen at least?
