What to do on a Saturday in Shanghai?

It’s Saturday morning and there is no hurry to get out from bed. Every Saturday morning I get into a dilemma. Go to the gym and end up over the elliptic machine surrounded by Yao Ming and their cousins or dedicate to myself a wonderful breakfast enjoying the last days of this summer-fall in Shanghai that seems it never ends?
Imagine that the bad angel inside my brain wins (I always say I’ll go to the gym tomorrow). I keep wearing my PJ’s and cover with my ever favorite cardigan (Benetton) from my freshman year at college… yeah,  when Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys bit each other for the number 1 on the hits list and all the girls had their starred moment of the night shouting Bitch by Meredith Brooks (sorry for this revival shot).
Remember the fake Céline-Birks I bought this summer? I’ve never walk outside my door with them. So last week I decided to wear them as home shoes. They are the most comfortable and cozy home shoes I’ve ever had (after my other furry slippers by Roxy which I cannot wear anymore).
On the table, my daily fresh orange juice, toast with salted butter, avocado and some French cheese. After that foodie self-homage, a cup of coffee, expresso, as black as night.
After some reading, writing, e-mail, shower and getting dressed I’m right at the door, asking for a chu zu che (taxi in Chinese) and heading to one of my favorite Italian restaurants in this city, Bella Napoli, at the French Concession. Having eaten too much the need of walk is a must. So next stop will be Anfu Lu, a really short walk from the restaurant and where you can find the highest density of expats per square meter. In this small street you can nearly find anything you want, from hairdresser to home décor shop after passing by a bunch of restaurants with really nice deco and international food. Believe me, after having a Monday to Friday eating spring rolls, dumplings and noodles you’d kill for something which is impossible to eat with chopsticks.
The stop at some of the decoration stores is a must as well as at the plants/flowers street peddler. Really, after ten months living in Shanghai my house is starting to be more likely a greenhouse… just kidding, but as I’m very weak in front of any piece of cloth, my Sartorialist has the same devotion but for plants.
And now it comes the fashionist stop. Miollis is the greatest shop in Anfu Lu and one of the best in Shanghai. The store deco answers to that minimalist stream that came from Japan some years ago and it lets you to see most of the pieces on a very first and quick look. It’s owned by South Korean designer Choi Chang-ho. His style is characterized by getting emphasis on the lines of his clothes with the help of scissoring. They are great and fine textures and quite affordable. I haven’t bought anything yet there, but that will happen sooner rather than later.
It’s almost evening and maybe it’s time for a snack, a coffee… at Sunflour or Baker and Spice (all about bread, sandwiches, cakes…). If you’re more in the mood of following the party and non stopping till late, you can fancy a glass of wine. The tiny supermarket for expats with highly pricy imported products sells wine and you only have to ask for the glass and sit on a table at the terrace.
Cheers and happy Saturday!

Without a bicycle you're nobody at Anfu Lu.

Any street in Shanghai has at least one nail bar.

Stores that sell tiny things but the merchandising of the store is so cool that you end to buy everything you can.

Maybe the tiniest shop in the world? They have the popular Chinese brand for sneakers, Feiyue.

Stop It Right Now

You can take fashion seriously or you can have fun with fashion or you can combined both. It's like you cannot always take life seriously because you would go mad in the end. So, let's have some fun. The following pictures belong to a great editorial, a Jayne Min's creation for her blog Stop it right now.
Two of the most confortable shoes in the world, Converse All Star and Timberland boots, pair hear with some pieces of Stella McCartney collection for Fall/Winter 2013. The Movie of The Galaxy of the Angels

No, ¿verdad? Yo tampoco. ¿Quién no? ¡No!

Do you believe everything you watch on movies? You don't, right? Me neither. I'm not trying to do any dissertation about measuring the human being dreams and wannabes. I'm sure that you all have already seen some images from the latest Victoria's Secret show. Who hasn't? And with it there they come all those legends and stories about the models, their diets, their go-and-back... And suddenly the whole planet wants to belong to that galaxy of angels. No! Victoria's Secret show is like a movie and the individuals I've heard about they want to be Spiderman, they haven't come off well. Don't believe everything you watch on movies. Come on, you are smarter than that!
Victoria's Secret show is going to last for ages and we have to learn to live with it. Do not envy too much the Angels and stop saying "those arms are too skinny", "those thighs are not natural",... blablabla... If you cannot stand with it, go out and ride your bicycle, go for drinks with friends, party as if the world was ending... Do whatever you like it! The Angels will have their Galaxy we hope that for a long time because we do not want a bad end for Victoria's Secret. They play this game very good.
I'm not the kind of person who thrills too much with this show that comes once a year before the holidays. If some picture falls in front of me I can say "oh that's beautiful" or "ow, that's too much glitter for me". But when the image dissapears I can go back to what I was doing and I do not remember it till the next Victoria's Secret show. I keep doing my writing, my reading, my staff, my shopping, going to buy groceries... It's much more fun.

The Miracle of Getting some Isabel Marant pour H&M pieces... 2 days later!

Ocurrió y no sé cómo. ¡Y no!

It happened and I don't know how. During my Saturday afternoon walk through Huaihuai Road I decided to cross and enter the H&M store. I got in saying to myself "there is nothing left and maybe you'll only find a size 40 of some shoes". And no! Behind a very long cue I happened to find some pieces of the Isabel Marant pour H&M collection. Of course the best-sellers that you had already realized that they were gonna be best-sellers were not there... like the cozy colourful sweaters. However, I did a not bad purchase at all. The most basic grey sweatshirt and a long-sleeved white linen shirt... and a necklace as a prize to get something to buy and also useful AFTER ALMOST 3 DAYS AFTER LAUNCHING. And yes, now I'm like one of those bloggers that I'm posting pics with an H&M-Marant look. Come on, sometimes we need to get crazy with something. So for this time, let's get into a Marant mood and be chic-parisian for a while, although it is only for doing your Sunday-shopping at Ikea.

Credits: Sweatshirt, tee and necklace (Isabel Marant pour H&M); pants and sneakers (Zara FW 2012), coat (Zara SS 2013), sunnies (Zara FW 2013); handbag (COS FW 2013). The rings are all gifts and they are always with me. Nail polish, OPI.
